Obituary for Paul Robert Zuvanich

Paul Robert Zuvanich
Paul Robert Zuvanich, 57, of Sandy Hook, CT, passed away on June 28 after a year-long battle with brain cancer. He died the way he lived his life, fast. Paul was many things to many people. As the youngest of four children, he was “my little boy Paul” to his mother. To his children, he was “Daddy My King”. Others knew him as a true and loyal friend, the person you called when you needed advice about your car, and the one you definitely wanted to vacation with. Or vaaaaaacation, as he liked to call it.
Paul’s early years were spent in Wyoming, Texas, and Connecticut. After high school in Weston, CT, Paul followed his father’s footsteps into the Texas oilfields, received a degree from San Jacinto College, and then chose Connecticut as his permanent home. He returned to his high school job at the Old Blue Bird Garage in Easton to pursue his love of all things related to cars. For over 30 years, there wasn’t an electrical system or automotive problem he couldn’t solve.
He enjoyed the sport of car racing, even participating for a few years in the SCCA with his number 99 Mustang—retrofitted by none other than PRZ. He usually managed to keep that precious Mustang “shiny side up, greasy side down.” NASCAR was a passion, and you did not want to be the one blocking his view of Bill Elliott on the track.
As much as Paul loved cars, family came first. He met his wife Sandy at the wedding of his cousin, her college best friend. Their children, Sarah, Phil, and Maggie, were the highlights of his life. Family vacations to his parents’ home in Texas were always filled with laughter, pool games with the kids, and late night card games. His burgers were one of the many things he took pride in as well as his written tributes to family.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
This Bud Light’s for you, Paul.
